Oracle Database Appliance
21.9.2011
On 21th September 2011 Oracle announced immediate accessibility of so called Oracle Database Appliance. Oracle announced it as „Simple, Highly Reliable, Affordable Database System for Small/Midsize Enterprises and Departments“.
Oracle Database Appliance is a 2-node server Sun Fire X4370 M2. Each node runs on 6-core Intel Xeon Processor X5675 and 96 GB of registered DDR3-1333 RAM. Server storage consists of 12TB on triple mirrored raw SAS disks which gives users 3TB space for their data. In addition there are 4 SSD disks, each with 73GB space for high performance processing of database redo logs.
Customers may use already bought database software licenses and very important is the possibility to license the database from 2 up to the targeted 24 processor cores as grows the need of the system performance.
Oracle Database Appliance is based on the Oracle Enterprise Linux and the database used is Oracle Database 11.2.0.2.
More information on the Oracle Database Appliance you can find here.
